Recently on The Buzz, we shared a look at Proctor's Mountain Biking Program. On a team where novices learn to ride alongside racers with a decade of experience, there is no hierarchy. Coaches cultivate a shared love of the sport and a culture where competing hard and supporting each other are not mutually exclusive. Students come to know their coaches, who may also be their teachers, advisors, or dorm parents, in an entirely different light, and those relationships deepen as a result. This is a window into the kind of community your student is joining – one where they'll be known, supported, and given the room to discover what they are capable of. Watch the video above, or read the story on The Buzz!
As summer is now in full swing and we look ahead to your student's arrival this fall, we have several updates and reminders to share with your family.
Parent and Student Portals Are Now Open!
Portal access is live for new families (click HERE to log in)! The Parent Portal will serve as your primary hub for student information once the school year begins. Once you log in, you will be able to access your family's Magnus Health forms, due August 1, via a link from the Parent Portal (see the screenshot below).
A current physical is required as part of your family’s health forms packet. We recognize that these can take time to schedule, so please book your student’s physical appointment as soon as possible. New students must have a physical prior to arriving on campus for Registration Day andWilderness Orientation.
The Parent Portal is also where you can update your family's contact information, and where more will appear later in the summer: final course placements by July 15, advisor and dorm assignments in mid-August, and grades, attendance, and more once the school year begins.
Course Placement Update
Final course placements for all new students will be available in the Parent and Student Portals by July 15. In the meantime, you may begin to see courses appear in the portals, but please know these are not yet final. Our Academic Dean's office is fine-tuning schedules and balancing course loads across the term, so what you see now may shift before placements are confirmed. Contact academicdean@proctoracademy.org with any questions.
A Reminder About Proctor Gmail Account
If your student hasn't set up their Proctor Google Workspace and Gmail account yet, they should do so now. These accounts serve as a single sign-on (SSO) for many of our systems, including Khan Academy (Summer Math Work), and for accessing their Summer Literacy reading assignment. New students should have received login credentials from Proctor Tech Support in early June. If they cannot find that invitation, they should check their spam folder first, and then reach out to Tech Support for assistance.
Log In and Connect to Your Student in Orah
Students and parents will soon receive an email invitation to Orah, the platform we use for school permission forms, weekend and school break travel passes, and emergency communications. When you receive the invitation, please log in and connect to your student's account. This step is essential as you cannot receive your family’s school permission forms until your account is created and connected to your student, and those forms must be signed and submitted before Registration Day. Contact studentlife@proctoracademy.org with any questions about Orah.
While every Proctor dormitory offers on-site laundry facilities, Proctor also partners with E&R Laundry for interested families. E&R offers various laundry plans tailored for boarding students, including washing, drying, folding, and dry cleaning. Review the details in the E&R Laundry Service Information sheet, and sign up, if interested, with E&R Laundry Service directly HERE.
