Proctor Wilderness Orientation - One for All and All for One

Dear Family,

We hope you are enjoying this beautiful summer! We are looking forward to your arrival for New Student Registration Day on September 6th.

Following Registration Day, new students head into the White Mountains for Wilderness Orientation, the way every new Proctor student has started for 56 years. In the video linked above, Assistant Head of School Annie MacKenzie and Dean of Teaching and Learning Derek Nussbaum Wagler explain why we begin this way. Removed from the noise of their everyday lives and the nerves that sometimes accompany joining a new school community, students spend five days with a small group of peers and two faculty leaders. They learn to hang a tarp that they sleep under, cook dinner on a camp stove, cross rivers with heavy packs, and climb peaks they did not believe they could climb. During Wilderness Orientation, something shifts – students let their guard down and start depending on each other. The confidence and the community they build in the mountains widens the moment they step off the bus and into the larger Proctor community.

Magnus Health Forms Due August 1

New student health forms, which you can find via your Parent Portal, are due on August 1. Any Magnus Health access issues should have been resolved, but if your email on file with Proctor has recently changed or you have trouble logging in, please contact admissions@proctoracademy.org.

Two things need to be in place before your student heads out on Wilderness Orientation: a completed annual physical, and any food allergies or dietary restrictions must be noted in your student's health records. Please contact the Health Center with any questions.

Connect to Your Student in Orah

You should have received an email invitation (and reminders) to set up your Orah account. Please log in to connect to your student as soon as possible – permission forms will open soon, and you will not be able to access or sign them until you do. We will send a follow-up email when the student handbook and 2026-2027 permission forms become available. Contact studentlife@proctoracademy.org if you need assistance connecting to your student in Orah.
